path to the highest altar
Every 15 May, the Virgin of the Incarnation is carried on a platform through the countryside to her altar. The villagers accompany the statue on a pilgrimage, stretching out the day so that it will never end, whilst the sun travels across the sky beside them, and in the end everything falls asleep.
